MyAP Legal Information

Cookies are a bit of data a website may store on your computer through your web-browser that allows the web-site to keep track of your settings and other information. They are not a security risk, and only allow your browser to send the data back to the server that originally set it. Cookies cannot be used to "steal" information about you or your computer system. They can only be used to store information that you have provided at some point.

How did your cookie get on my computer?
Most likely, our cookie file was created on your machine because you visited a website and clicked one of MyAP encoded links, or clicked on a MyAP encoded email link of an Affiliate or merchant who is using our MyAP software. Our cookie was set by our software so that the Affiliate or merchant can track and manage their referral agreement.

Here's an example. You want to buy some new shoes online. So you do a search for "shoes" on Google. The first site that comes up that you visit is www.joes-shoe-store.com. Joes-shoe-store.com doesn't really sell shoes, they only recommend shoes. They have an arrangement with ShoeSuperstoreOutlet.com where they get paid 10% of each sale they refer to them. So Joes-shoe-store.com is an Affiliate of ShoeStoreOutlet.com, a merchant.

The ShoeSuperStoreOutlet.com uses our MyAP Affiliate tracking software to allow Joes-shoe-store.com the ability to recommend their products. MyAP software makes sure that Joes-shoe-store.com gets credit for a recommendation.

Joes-shoe-store.com puts MyAP specially encoded links on their site in hopes that you will click them so they can get credit for their recommendations that result in sales. When you click on one of those links, a cookie is created on your machine that marks the time, date and the MyAP userid and the referring Affiliate ID so that our MyAP software can monitor if a transaction takes place, and if so, give credit to Joes-shoe-store.com.

What specific information do you have about me?
MyAP cookies keep the following information:

  • the session ID or authorization information (myap userid and the referring affiliate id)
  • the time and date the cookie was issued
  • an expiration time
  • the IP address of the browser the cookie was issued to

Does your software create pop-ups?
No. MyAP software allows merchants the ability to allow their Affiliates to post MyAP encoded html links in the form of text or image (banners). MyAP software does not offer the functionality of pop-up generation in our standard software to our clients.
